Caitlin Clark Makes Concerning Admission About Her Condition Before Fever-Dream Game

Caitlin Clark’s first game back following her lengthy injury spell was far from ideal. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year returned to action on Wednesday against the Golden State Valkyries after missing five straight games due to a lingering groin issue. However, instead of marking her comeback with a big win, the Fever got themselves blown out at home, 80-61.

Clark and Co. are looking to bounce back on Friday as they return to the court against the Atlanta Dream in another home game. Clark, however, made an honest admission about her current physical condition before the contest.

According to the 23-year-old, she’s still feeling “sore” from the Golden State game, as reported by Chloe Peterson of the Indy Star. Clark also added that she expects this to be the case moving forward, saying, “that’s probably going to be a given here on out.”

It does not sound like Clark will be at one hundred percent against the Dream, and this could also be the case for her in their upcoming games.

Rust was clearly a factor in Clark's performance against Atlanta. She shot just 4-of-12 from the field for 10 points and was not able to impact the game as much as she had wanted.

It’s also no surprise that she’s still feeling the aftereffects of her first game back after being sidelined for nearly two weeks. Clark won’t have much time to recover in between games, though, with Indiana slated to play four times over the next six days before the All-Star break.

The silver lining here is that Clark herself indicated that she still “feels good” and is ready to go against the Dream. This is good to know, considering how the Fever will rely on her heavily to lead them to victory on Friday night.
