Caitlin Clark is widely considered to be one of the best players in the WNBA today. In fact, ESPN Bet even has the Indiana Fever star as the favorite to win MVP in the 2025 season, highlighting the ability she has shown so far in the league and the massive expectations on her.
The Fever playmaker finished her first season in the WNBA as the Rookie of the Year and an All-Star, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game. Clark was particularly sensational in the final 20 games of the regular season, putting up 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists in that span.
Naturally, ahead of the new campaign, the popular video game NBA 2K also rated her as one of the top players in the league. On its updated ratings, NBA 2K put Clark at 96 overall, only behind A'ja Wilson (98), Napheesa Collier (97) and Breanna Stewart (97).
Many supporters believed it's a well-deserved rating, especially after the historic season that Caitlin Clark had. However, not everyone was happy about it, with several other followers of the video game questioning the reason behind her high rating.
"How is Caitlin a 96? Are we just ignoring defense?" a commenter wrote.
"2k is tripping with that 96. 85 max," another one said, clearly referring to Clark.
"Can’t put Caitlyn over Sabrina just yet," a follower added, pointing out the absence of Sabrina Ionescu, who just won the WNBA championship last season.
A social media user remarked, "Lmao why is that girl up there with a 96? Y’all gotta stop."
"That girl is not a 96. Please be frl," a fifth poster stated.
"They gave her a 96 because she shoots 30% from 3 and does nothing else. No defense or handles," a Clark critic noted.
"A'ja is a 99 and clark is not a 96 should be a 86," a seventh commenter claimed.
Clark's NBA 2K rating should only further amplify the already huge expectations on her for her second season. Sure enough, there will be plenty of eyes on the Fever sharpshooter once the 2025 campaign starts to see if she'll be able to live up to them.
