The Indiana Fever announced its Instagram followers reached 1 million. It was a historic milestone for the team, as no other WNBA franchise had hit that mark before. Indiana’s popularity began to rise after drafting Caitlin Clark first overall in 2024.

After a standout college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, the 24-year-old guard quickly became one of the WNBA’s biggest attractions. The “Caitlin Clark effect” became noticeable during her 2024 rookie season. Her long-range shooting and playmaking ability helped boost game attendance and television viewership.

Merchandise sales also increased after Clark shattered several rookie records, including most points and most three-pointers made. Her standout debut campaign earned her the WNBA Rookie of the Year honors as she led the team to its first playoff appearance since 2016.
