Everyone knows the importance of the 2026 WNBA season for Caitlin Clark. And in her third year, CC22 wants to exceed all expectations.
But being the face of the league comes with the sacrifice of facing constant scrutiny and a keen watch over your every move. Clark knows that and was asked how she deals with such a huge burden on her shoulders at all times, following her training session on May 5.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s definitely easier said than done. And like, I think people forget at the end of the day, like, I care more than all of you. Like, I want to be the best. And, you know, I’m always analyzing my play. I’m always, you know, trying to find ways to be better.” CC said, per The Athletic’s James Boyd.

This season follows a year in which injuries plagued Clark’s sophomore campaign with the Indiana Fever and kept her on the sidelines for most of the time.
CC suffered recurring groin injuries along with a left quad sprain, which ultimately kept her out throughout the back half of the season. In addition, she reportedly sustained a bone bruise in her left ankle while rehabbing last August, missing the playoffs.
Now, CC is all set and healthy to climb her way back to the top and show the world her actual calibre. She had a great showing for that in the offseason, winning the MVP award in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
The league has even geared up for Clark’s return by scheduling all 44 of the Fever’s regular-season games for national television and setting 39 of them in NBA-sized arenas.
Now, Clark only needs to step onto the hardwood to do what she does best, while also silencing some critics in the front office.
Every year, the WNBA releases the results of the polls of the questions they ask the general managers of each team. This year, 15 of them answered 42 questions each.
Last year, the GMs named Clark the best player to build a franchise around, giving her 50% of the votes. This year, that figure dropped to 20%, as Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers took the lead with 33%.
Meanwhile, voters chose Chelsea Gray as the best point guard in the WNBA, awarding her 73% of the votes, while Clark received just 20%. She was once again the top pick last year.
Much of the WNBA GMs’ downplaying of Clark comes down to her sophomore season, when she did not accumulate game time due to constant injuries.
Well, Clark just received one more reason to record her best season ever, and she can kick off from Game 1 itself, when the Indiana Fever will host Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 9.
So, do you think Caitlin Clark will win her first MVP award this season over the likes of Paige Bueckers and A’ja Wilson?
