Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been instrumental to Team USA’s success at the FIBA World Cup. The Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream stars may be rivals in the WNBA, but they are showing good chemistry with the national team. The guard recently sent a “fiery” message to Reese.

Clark started the tournament strong with a historic performance against China. She recorded the most assists by a USA player at the World Cup in 28 years. The 24-year-old finished with 14 points, three rebounds, 11 assists and three three-pointers. However, she struggled against Italy, producing just one point on 0-of-6 shooting in the 55-52 win. Clark bounced back versus Czechia on Monday with nine points and seven assists.

Meanwhile, Reese is averaging 8.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals. While the numbers are below her WNBA season averages, she has shown that she can perform at the highest level. The three-time All-Star is a big part of the rotation, with the ability to defend different positions. Reese also proved that she is not afraid of going toe-to-toe with the best players in the world.

Clark highlighted Reese’s motor when asked about playing alongside her. The Iowa product also shared how much fun she’s having being teammates with the forward.

“We’re both fiery competitors and we want to win,” Clark said. “It’s one of the things I really admire about her game. She’s competitive and she has a tremendous motor. She has one of the best motors in the league. So it’s been fun to be able to play with her.”

Team USA will next face Hungary on Thursday in the quarterfinals. The Americans are heavily favored to advance to the semis and the gold medal game. They are seeking to win their fifth straight world championship. Clark and Reese’s production have been valuable, making it even difficult for the rest of the competition to dethrone them.
