There may not be a team in the league right now that’s dealt with more injuries than the (19-16) Indiana Fever this season. Still, despite the setbacks, they’ve managed to stay above .500, ahead of Friday’s matchup against the (28-6) Minnesota Lynx.

The Fever remain without star point guard Caitlin Clark—who, according to head coach Stephanie White on Wednesday, still has no update and continues to sit out of practice.

"Until she can get into practice, and until you guys see her practice, it's really status quo. Same as we have been," White said.

They’re also now without Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson, all of whom are sidelined with season-ending injuries.

However, on Wednesday, Colson underwent ACL surgery. Just moments after waking up, she went live on Instagram—where Clark and Aliyah Boston quickly jumped in to show support and make some jokes.

“Not gonna request [to join], but I’m glad it went so well,” Clark wrote on the Instagram Live.

She also joked with her tea mmate, adding: “Syd, give me a shoutout,” and “Ayeee, sick cap bro.”

With Colson still groggy from the procedure, Clark couldn’t resist teasing her further, commenting: “Syd, can you read right now?”

Aliyah Boston also jumped in, showing support with a touch of humor: “Syd, you look good,” and “Baddie, baddie.”

Sydney Colson suffered her season-ending ACL tear on Aug. 7 in a matchup against the Phoenix Mercury. Not long after, Aari McDonald went down with a broken bone in her right foot.

Then, last Sunday, Sophie Cunningham suffered a torn MCL after an opponent collided with her knee while she was rotating over to play help defense.

In less than two weeks, the Fever have endured three major injuries. With just nine regular-season games remaining, the potential return of Caitlin Clark—if and when she’s healthy—will be critical to their postseason hopes after being eliminated in the first round in 2024.

The former Iowa star has been sidelined since before the All-Star break and has appeared in only 13 games for the Fever this season.
