Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin took the court as college teammates with the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2020-24. Now, the former collegiate teammates are both in the midst of their second WNBA seasons.
Clark, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year, is still a superstar point guard for the Indiana Fever. Martin was selected in the 2025 expansion draft by the Golden State Valkyries following her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces.
Clark and Martin have remained close friends since entering the professional ranks. On Saturday, Clark shared multiple comments on Martin's latest Instagram post.
"Yezzzz queen ... Hot slay auntie ... Love u," Clark wrote in the comment section.
Clark has dealt with a variety of injury issues in 2025. The All-Star point guard has missed the last month since suffering a groin injury against the Connecticut Sun on July 15. In her 13 game appearances this year, she's averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Martin is averaging a career-high 5.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in her first season with the Valkyries.
Clark has made it very clear that she hopes to one day reunite with Martin as WNBA teammates.
"Hopefully I can recruit her to the Fever somehow, some way one day, who knows?” Clark said earlier this year. “I’m gonna try to figure that out. That’s my goal at some point in my career, to team up with Kate again. But we’ll see if that happens.”
The Fever will face off against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday afternoon. The Valkyries will matchup against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday evening.
