Caitlin Clark Sends Strong Message After Aliyah Boston Injury

Clark, however, remained defiant as she spoke to the media after the game.

“At this point, everybody’s record is 0-0,” she said at the 1:08 mark. “You’re going into the playoffs.

“If we sit and sulk about what happened tonight, yeah, it sucks. It is what it is. We kind of came out and got punched in the mouth. We didn’t make shots.”

Clark also acknowledged that it was tough losing Boston and Harris to injury. However, the three-time All-Star remains confident in her team as they head into the postseason.

“Obviously, had two players go down,” Clark continued. “This was a pretty crappy night overall.

“I think for us, you’ve got to do it for the people around you. You’ve got to buy in, and I’m excited. If you can’t get up for the playoffs, then you probably shouldn’t be on this team.

“I think that’s the great thing when you look at one through eight in this league right now. It’s anybody’s to take. For us, we have to have the mentality going into the playoffs of, ‘Let’s go steal the first one,’ one game at a time.

“We have three days to prep and get ready, and I think just turn our focus to that.”

The Fever dropped to the No. 6 seed after Thursday’s loss. The Washington Mystics defeated the Chicago Sky and have now locked the No. 5 seed.

As Clark said, Indiana will now turn its attention to Game 1 of its opening-round series on Sunday. The Fever will face either the Las Vegas Aces or the Golden State Valkyries, depending on the results of their Thursday night games.

The silver lining for the Fever is that head coach Stephanie White said after the game that Boston’s injury was “just a flare-up” and that her absence in the second half was precautionary. White, however, had no update on Harris.
