Caitlin Clark Shares Personal Health Update After Injury-Plagued Season

The Indiana Fever’s season came to an end on Tuesday night with a Game 5 loss to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA semifinals.

While Indiana gave it their all on the court, questions linger about what might have been if the team had stayed healthy—a challenge that defined their 2025 season. The Fever entered the postseason with five players sidelined by season-ending injuries, including franchise star Caitlin Clark.

Clark appeared in just 13 games this season and did not play again after tweaking her groin prior to the All-Star break in mid-July. She attempted a comeback on Aug. 7 but then sprained her ankle. During the Fever’s exit meetings on Thursday, Clark gave an update on her health.

“I’ve been working really hard to get to full health... my ankle didn’t really allow me to see where my groin was at,” Clark said. “I had every intention of returning, and I think, in a way, that was probably positive for me, because that’s how I approached every day—I came in like I was going to play.”

Despite playing in just 13 of the team’s 44 regular-season games, Caitlin Clark performed well enough during that stretch to be named one of the two WNBA All-Star captains. For a time, she was even considered an early MVP contender.

However, injuries plagued her season from the very beginning. She suffered a quad injury in the offseason, followed by a groin injury earlier in the year that caused her to miss several games. When she returned, it appeared she was regaining form, but she ultimately tweaked her groin again—a setback that effectively ended her season.

Although Clark began a ramp-up process in August, as she mentioned, she never participated in full-contact drills or 5-on-5 work, which typically signals that a player is close to returning. As a result, she never really came close to being game-ready again in 2025.
