Caitlin Clark's Boyfriend Directs Five-Word Question to Nike
Joseph Cress/For the Register / USA TODAY NETWORK

The boyfriend of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, Connor McCaffery, has supported her basketball career since they began dating during their time at the University of Iowa.

Since Clark’s arrival in the WNBA, though, her career has taken off. She signed an eight-year, $28 million endorsement deal with Nike, which includes her own logo and signature shoe. However, neither has been released yet.

In the meantime, Nike gave her a player-exclusive colorway of the Kobe 5 Protro, which she has already debuted. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Caruso wore them during Game 1 of this season’s NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers.

Photos of him wearing the shoes during the game surfaced on social media.

McCaffery later came across a post of Caruso wearing them during that game and left a comment, directing a question to Nike.

"Where are mine at @nike," he wrote.

Nike has faced backlash lately for how little they’ve featured Clark since the season started. After signing her to the biggest deal in company history for a women’s basketball player, one would expect her to be the face.

Gatorade, on the other hand, showed fans what real support looks like. On May 4, just before tip-off of Clark’s return to Iowa for a preseason game with the Fever, they posted something that felt much more in line with what people expected from her sponsors.

"Real home court advantage. Welcome back to Iowa," Gatorade wrote.

It’s unclear if McCaffery was able to get a pair of Clark's Kobe 5 Protro, but it’s something to keep an eye on given how fans feel about Nike’s recent treatment of Clark.
