After finishing the 2024 season with a 20-20 record and making their first playoff appearance since 2016, the Indiana Fever enter the 2025 WNBA season with heightened expectations.
As the Fever wrapped up practice drills ahead of their season opener on Saturday, Caitlin Clark, the reigning Rookie of the Year, offered a clear window into her mindset going into her sophomore campaign.
"I could’ve gone through this whole offseason and not done anything... You make your routine… I don’t really have to find motivation to get in the gym… I love it. I crave wanting to be better… If you do it once a week, that's never gonna show up."

Selected first overall in 2024, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists (led the WNBA), and 5.7 rebounds per contest, earning an All-WNBA First Team nod and an appearance in the 2024 All-Star Game.
Despite a first-round playoff sweep at the hands of the Connecticut Sun, Indiana finished with a .500 record for the first time in nearly a decade.
Indiana’s front office didn’t rest on rookie laurels.
Late in 2024, the Fever parted ways with coach Christie Sides (33-47 over two seasons) and lured back Stephanie White, head coach from 2015-16, to steer the team into a new era.
The Indiana Fever roster has also been bolstered by the addition of veterans DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard to complement All-Stars Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Clark.
With Indiana's 2025 season tipping off on Saturday against the Chicago Sky, all eyes will be on Clark to see if she and her new supporting cast can push the franchise back into title contention.
