In 2024, the NBA All-Star Weekend took a new turn. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty participated in a special 3-point challenge, with Curry winning.
In 2025, there have been discussions of Curry, Ionescu and Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark holding another such challenge during All-Star Weekend.
However, it appears that Clark is leaning toward a decision regarding the event, per Tom Friend of Sports Business Journal.
"Caitlin Clark has told the NBA she is disinclined to participate in an All-Star Game 3-point contest next month that could include Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Sabrina Ionescu, sources told SBJ, although indications are the league is still in discussions with Clark’s representatives."
Friend adds that Clark doesn't want to shoot off the rack, especially since her normal routine is catch-and-shoot or off the dribble.
Clark's participation in the event would've been a massive boost, although all signs point to her declining the invite.
The 2025 NBA All-Star Game has a brand-new format, which consists of four teams and three games with eight players on each team as the league tries to add excitement to the event.
Ultimately, Clark has not seemed to make a final decision, as one source told Tom Friend.
“I wouldn’t say it’s over until the thing happens,’’ a source said. “A lot of this stuff comes together very, very late.’’
The 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend takes place in San Francisco from Feb. 14-16.
