Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink might be happily engaged, but that didn’t stop her from sharing a dating ick that still makes her cringe, and it's one that would make your high school English teacher proud.
On a recent episode of her podcast "Straight to Cam," the 23-year-old WNBA standout revealed her biggest turnoff during her dating days: bad grammar.
"Maybe it's the Stanford girl in me, but grammar is very important to me," Brink said with a laugh during her chat with NBA player Terance Mann. "If I see something with bad grammar, or someone misspells something, it really irks me."
Spoken like a true communications major, which she was in college.
While the conversation was lighthearted, Brink was clearly serious about her grammar standards. And honestly, can you blame her? A rogue “your” instead of “you’re” in a text message might just have been enough to send suitors packing.
Luckily, Brink doesn’t have to worry about that anymore. In September 2024, she got engaged to longtime boyfriend Ben Felter, a former Stanford Cardinal rower, after he popped the question on a rooftop terrace at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris. Brink was in town attending the Balenciaga fashion show — talk about a dream weekend.
Brink is still working her way back to the Sparks lineup after she suffered a torn ACL in June 2024. The team is hoping to get her back soon after this weekend's All-Star break.
As for Mann, who was just traded to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a blockbuster three-team deal, he kept things cool during the grammar convo, avoiding any grammatical landmines.
Note to future suitors everywhere: Mind your commas, spellcheck your texts and never, ever confuse “there,” “their,” and “they’re,” at least not around someone like Brink.
