Cameron Brink Makes Tough Admission About Her Injury
Grace Hollars/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink is facing one of the toughest challenges of her career—recovering from an ACL tear that cut her rookie season short.

Brink was showing promise in her first WNBA season before she suffered a devastating knee injury during a game against the Connecticut Sun in June 2024.

The injury not only ended her season but also ruled her out of the Paris Olympics, a dream opportunity for any young athlete.

Now, as she works to get back to peak performance in time for the 2025 WNBA season, Brink admits the journey has been anything but easy.

On her podcast, “Straight to Cam,” co-hosted with NBA star Steph Curry’s sister Sydel Curry, Brink shared a raw and honest update on her condition.

“This is the hardest part for me,” Brink admitted. “I’m just finally starting to do the jumping, the running, and the cutting slightly. Not really supposed to cut yet, but you know, real impact stuff.”

She also revealed just how out of shape she feels after months away from full-speed basketball.

“I went on a run the other day—running for four minutes and then walking for one minute. When I tell you, I’ve never been so gassed in my life! I’m like, ‘I’m not an athlete right now,’” she continued.

The recovery process has been both physically and mentally exhausting for Brink. She described how frustrating it has been to relearn basic skills, from shooting to movement on the court.

“I’m not making shots; I feel like I’m just having to relearn everything,” she said.

However, Brink’s trainers have been key to keeping her motivated during rehab. She shared how they changed up her workouts to keep things fresh.

“The other day, I did a pool workout, which was really fun. I felt like a child, just splashing around. It’s really fun to just keep it light and not so serious and change up your scenery.”

With the Sparks set to play in the 2025 season, fans are eager to see Brink back in action. While she acknowledged the road to recovery is still ongoing, her determination and hard work suggest she will return stronger than ever.
