Cameron Brink Reveals Big Change Kelsey Plum Brought to LA Sparks

Cameron Brink is yet to make her 2025 WNBA season debut. After her rookie season with the Los Angeles Sparks was cut short due to an ACL injury, she appears to be in the final rehab stages.

They still don't have a timeline for her return, coach Lynne Roberts said last week, but the forward keeps making progress to come back to action.

"She looks great, and I'm incredibly proud of how hard she is working," Roberts said.

Meanwhile, she's supporting her teammates amid a rocky start to the campaign. The Sparks are 1-2 ahead of their fourth game of the season against the Golden State Valkyries Friday night.

Kelsey Plum, their star addition in the 2025 offseason, is off to a solid start, averaging 26.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game, shooting 44.2% from the field, 45.8% from beyond the arc and 82.1% from the free-throw line.

Talking with Deyscha Smith of SLAM, as she sits with Plum, Dearica Hamby and Rickea Jackson in a gym at El Camino College, Brink broke down how Plum has made an early impact on the team.

The two-time WNBA champion is coming off a tumultuous season with the Las Vegas Aces, but things have seemingly clicked fast on the Sparks.

“Kelsey’s just elevated our whole organization because of the hard work she does on and off the floor,” Brink said.

“She’s been a huge inspiration for me in that sense. We both have the same trainer—I’ve said that before—but she’s the hardest worker I know, and it inspires me to just put in that much more effort every day. So obviously she’s amazing on the floor. She’s one of the best players in our league, but she’s really taking our organization to the next level.”

The Sparks have several new faces for this season, but the most important is definitely Plum. She won't make this team championship contenders this season, even less so with Brink still sidelined.

That said, the level of performance she's shown off in the first three games of the season should make Sparks fans about having a fun season, more so when Brink returns to action.
