While Chennedy Carter’s WNBA career drought finally ended, she knew it could not have happened in any better way.
After spending the 2025 season overseas, the 27-year-old point guard finally returned to the W league once again. But this time, Carter already envisioned wearing a specific jersey across her chest.
“He eventually called me and was like, Becky wants to talk to you, the organisation wants to speak with you,” said Carter during a recent press conference. “Of Course, I’m appalled, I’m shocked. But also… I felt like eventually, before my career was over, I’d be an Ace.”
Chennedy Carter returned to the WNBA on Sunday for the first time since 2024 and in an Aces jersey. Carter spoke through her process when making the decision to join the reigning champions.

Despite averaging 17.5 points on 48.7% shooting with the Chicago Sky in 2024, career uncertainty trailed Carter in 2025. But the Las Vegas Aces did not waste time getting back one of the league’s fiercest scorers on their side this season.
While the Sky didn’t extend her contract due to some locker room mishaps involving her, Carter landed in Vegas under a training camp contract. And “for some reason,” Carter also felt like she had “seen this coming.”
Now this is the fairytale matchmaking everyone talks of. And while Carter started strengthening her portfolio as an Ace, coach Becky Hammon revealed the real reason behind this recruit.
Dropping 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in the preseason game against the Japanese Women’s National team, Carter is already halfway there, reestablishing her offensive prowess. And that’s what Hammon needed.
“We added Chennedy Carter, which I wanted, that really downhill player,” Aces coach Becky Hammon said earlier in camp. “I had never talked to Chennedy. I know we’ve had our hands full trying to guard her in the past.”
To top that, her quick adaptability and explosive play have already garnered massive praise from Chelsea Gray and A’Ja Wilson. Now, time will outline how Carter’s stay in Vegas goes.
