Chicago Sky Gives Angel Reese Major Competition in WNBA Draft Prediction

The Chicago Sky have the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, which takes place on Monday, April 14 in New York City.

After posting a 13-27 record, missing the playoffs and finishing last in the Eastern Conference in 2024, Chicago has plenty of holes to fill.

Two of the team's lone bright spots last season were first-round selections in the 2024 WNBA Draft, showing the power of the draft to overhaul the roster. The Sky used its set of first-round picks to select its frontcourt of the future, pairing No. 3 overall pick Kamilla Cardoso with No. 7 overall pick Angel Reese.

According to ESPN's Michael Voepel, Chicago could have its eye on a star power forward from the South Carolina Gamecocks in the first round in 2025 — bringing Reese stiff competition, even after an excellent rookie season.

Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game in her first professional season, the latter of which led the WNBA.

She became Chicago's lone All-Star during the 2024 campaign, joining Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark as the only rookies to earn the honor.

Yet, in Voepel's latest WNBA Mock Draft , the women's basketball expert is projecting the Sky to select South Carolina's Sania Feagin. The 6-foot-3 senior came on late in her college career after playing behind Cardoso and Aliyah Boston, a former overall No. 1 overall pick of the Indiana Fever.

Feagin averaged 8.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game during the 2024-2025 season, but "might just be scratching the surface of what she can do," Voepel wrote.

She helped Dawn Staley's Gamecocks reach the NCAA championship game against UConn this season, where they lost to the Huskies and projected No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers

While the possible pick of Feagin projects a nice reunion with Sky center Cardoso, it also suggests that Angel Reese's power forward position could be under more threat than many fans would have believed.
