Chicago Sky Make Announcement Before Sparks Game

The Chicago Sky have been one of the popular teams in the WNBA over the past two seasons, largely due to the influence of Angel Reese.

Chicago has ridden the success of Reese and fellow young star Kamilla Cardoso, but there have certainly been some struggles throughout the season.

The Sky are 3-10, heading into a matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Before their matchup against the Sparks, where the Sky will look to snap a three-game losing streak, Chicago shed light on one of their biggest storylines of the season.

Courtney Vandersloot, who previously went down with a leg injury, has undergone successful surgery. It's great news for the Sky, given the injury, but they also reiterated that she will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

"Chicago Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot underwent successful surgery on a torn right anterior cruciate ligament performed by Dr. Brian J. Cole of Midwest Orthopedics at Rush, the team announced today," posted the official social media account of the Chicago Sky. "She remains out for the rest of the 2025 season. We love you, Sloot."

Courtney Vandersloot returned to the Chicago Sky after two seasons with the New York Liberty. Before the 2025 season, Vandersloot helped the Liberty win the WNBA title.

She also has deep history with the organization, having been drafted by Chicago in 2011. Vandersloot previously played for the Sky from 2011 to 2022.

In her return season for the Sky, Vandersloot posted 11.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

With Courtney Vandersloot on the sideline, the Chicago Sky will face the Los Angeles Sparks at 8 p.m. ET. Los Angeles stands as the No. 10 team in the WNBA standings, just one game ahead of the Sky.
