Angel Reese is finally seeing good progress in her return from a lingering back injury. So much so that the 23-year-old now has a legitimate shot at returning following a seven-game injury absence. After taking part in practice on Monday, Reese could potentially return on Tuesday as the Sky host the Seattle Storm at Wintrust Arena.
Chicago head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to reporters a couple of hours before tip-off to provide a crucial update on Reese’s status for the Storm game. According to Marsh, the two-time All-Star remains a game-time decision. Reese, however, will suit up for the game. Should she be cleared to play, Marsh also said that the 6-foot-3 forward will be on a minutes restriction, per Sky reporter Karli Bell.
This does not come as a surprise, considering how much time Reese has missed because of the back issue. The Sky have been very cautious in bringing her back, and her playing time will potentially be limited on Tuesday as she works to regain her conditioning.
It is worth noting that Reese participated in shootaround on Tuesday morning, and Marsh earlier revealed that the former LSU star is feeling pretty good.
Ultimately, the Sky can still decide to have Reese sit out against the Storm, which will mark her eighth consecutive game on the shelf and her 11th in the last 13 contests. Either way, the fact of the matter is that Reese is closing in on her much-anticipated return to action.
If Reese ends up missing the Storm game, her next chance to play would be on Thursday in a road matchup against the defending champs, the New York Liberty.
