Jacy Sheldon has been a reliable backup guard for the Chicago Sky this season. In 40 games played so far, including 18 starts, she has averaged 6.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Despite the team’s failure to qualify for the playoffs, Sheldon has provided the Sky with defensive grit and high-energy leadership on the court.

Now, Sheldon is bringing that leadership off the court as well, as she looks to extend her impact on Chicago and women in sports.

On Sunday, the Sky and Voice in Sport — a member-only platform that connects girls and women in sports to pro mentors and provides them with other resources — shared a joint post to announce Sheldon’s appearance for a live mentorship session.

Sheldon is going to discuss leadership, as well as how to navigate the challenges that athletes may encounter in their respective careers.

“Join WNBA athlete and VIS Mentor Jacy Sheldon for a LIVE mentorship session all about leadership — from finding your voice and leading by example to navigating the moments that challenge you most,” Voice in Sport and the Sky wrote.

The event is a virtual session scheduled for Wednesday. Sheldon, for her part, expressed excitement about the mentorship opportunity to connect with other girls and female athletes.

“I look forward to mentoring the next generation and using my personal experiences to inspire, empower and uplift young people as they navigate their own paths,” Sheldon said in a statement.

Sheldon and the Sky are currently on a break after the WNBA paused the season for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Even so, they are not wasting time and are making sure they continue to make a difference.
