On Monday night, the Chicago Sky selected their first pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft with the No. 10 pick. The Sky selected power forward Ajsa Sivka out of Slovenia.

At 19, the Six-foot-four athlete impressed scouts by winning the FIBA U18 EuroBasket MVP.

Per Charlie Creme of ESPN, Sivka can help the Sky off the bench with offense in the upcoming season.

The Sky need some shooting to help the post play of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso,” Creme wrote. “Not only does Sivka provide that, but at 6-3 she can see over double teams and get her shot off quickly coming off screens.

“Perhaps not a starter immediately, she has a perimeter game that can provide instant offense off the bench in short spurts as she continues to develop.”

Sivka is an interesting choice by Chicago with their first pick in the 2025 draft. She plays the same position as Angel Reese, who the Sky selected with the No. 7 pick in 2024. The team has an out if they want to trade Reese.

Following news of the pick, Reese sent Sivka a three-word message on X.

“WELCOME TO CHICAGO!!!,” Reese wrote.

Some fans replied thinking the Sky might have drafted Sivka to replace Reese.

“drafted your replacement,” wrote a fan.

“Your replacement hopefully,” posted another.

Reese led the league in rebounds last season with 13.1 per game. The LSU standout left plenty to be desired shooting-wise. Sivka could provide an offensive boost for Chicago.
