Concerning Sophie Cunningham rumor emerges after Fever announcement

Sophie Cunningham has played in 18 out of the Indiana Fever’s 19 games this season. She sat out Indiana’s 114-106 win over the Chicago Sky on June 11 due to an elbow injury.

As it turns out, Cunningham could now be in danger of missing her second game of the season. This comes after the Fever announced on Tuesday that the 29-year-old is currently ill. The team did not provide full details of Cunningham’s illness, but she was unable to join her team for practice on Tuesday.

The silver lining for the 6-foot-1 guard is that the Fever don’t play until Sunday, giving her ample time to recover. Indiana’s next game will be against the defending WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces, at T-Mobile Arena.

Fans suspect Sophie Cunningham serving Fever punishment

While this could be nothing more than a minor illness for Cunningham, it did not stop some fans from thinking there’s more to this development than meets the eye. A new rumor is now circulating on social media that the Fever are punishing Cunningham for her comments in the latest episode of her podcast.

Cunningham dropped the latest “Show Me Something” episode on Saturday. As always, the outspoken star did not hold back in sharing her unfiltered takes. Cunningham addressed the controversy involving Caitlin Clark and Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas. She slammed the WNBA for failing to protect Clark, whom Cunningham believes is being targeted by opponents.

Some fans believe that Cunningham went overboard with her comments, and that the Fever have decided to suspend her for her most recent tirade.
