‘Crying’ Caitlin Clark’s All-Star Weekend in Doubt after Potentially Re-Injuring Groin

Before her sophomore season started, many expected Caitlin Clark to take a significant leap in her quest to become one of the better players in the league. So far, that has not panned out, as injuries have forced her to miss 10 games.

The first 5 games she missed was due to a quad strain. Since it was a soft tissue injury, veteran athletes had asked the reigning Rookie of the Year as well as her Indiana Fever to take it easy and allow it to completely heal.

After she returned, she brought back her blitzing performances as her team looked to be capable of beating the league’s best. Then, on the road, their performances nosedived after Clark struggled to shoot from deep.

To make matters worse, Clark injured her groin in the dying seconds of their win against the Seattle Storm. That injury forced her to sit out another 5 games. When she returned, fans and the media hoped the point guard had done enough to let the groin heal completely.

In her first game back, the Fever did not play well. After that game, the Fever seems to have hit their stride, after they won two straight games. Tonight against the Connecticut Sun, that became three straight wins.

With more than 1 minute left, Clark’s free throws gave her team a 7-point lead. A few seconds later, she set up Kelsey Mitchell for an easy layup. Instantly, the 23-year-old grabbed her right groin and walked towards the opposite side of the court.

Cameras picked up Clark crashing her head against the post, and then her eyes welled up as she walked to the bench. She then placed a towel on her head to avoid revealing the pain she was experiencing.

Caitlin Clark’s brother blames officials for her injury

Every game Caitlin Clark plays, her family tries to watch her in action. This time, it became evident that her brother, Colin Clark, was watching. As soon as he saw her sister cry in pain, he posted a tweet on X.

Make no mistake, this is on the reffing.

The youngest of the Clark siblings soon deleted the tweet. He might have been advised to take it down, as it would be a direct attack that would paint the league and its officials in a bad light. However, fans took screenshots and reposted on X.

Fans would agree with Colin Clark’s opinion, as it was evident throughout the game that officials were allowing the Connecticut Sun players to be physical with Caitlin Clark. She was being pushed, bumped, and swatted at all night long.

Even she lashed out at one of them and had to be pulled away by her coaches. Even if their opinion does not hold water, there have been increasing calls to the WNBA to help protect their most marketable athlete.

Caitlin Clark’s injury could throw All-Star weekend in jeopardy

After the game, head coach Stephanie White confirmed that Caitlin Clark would be evaluated. Fans and the WNBA would wait to see what comes out of that evaluation, but judging by the faces of her Fever teammates, it is possible that she could be out for a while.

Unless the 23-year-old recovers in time, it is possible that the All-Star festivities this weekend could be thrown into jeopardy. Clark is listed to participate in the 3-point contest on Saturday, as well as captain her team into the All-Star game on Sunday.

The Fever have a game against the New York Liberty next. Even though winning against the champions would help them a lot in the standings, it is better if she sits out. The last thing the WNBA needs is their most famous player not being available for the biggest event of the year, that too at her place of work.
