Dallas Wings Declare New Paige Bueckers Nickname

Paige Bueckers has established herself as one of the WNBA’s top young stars. The reigning Rookie of the Year has earned two All-Star nods in her first two years in the league.

After failing to lead the Wings to a playoff spot in her rookie year, it has been a different story for Bueckers in 2026. She is currently averaging 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 38 games played. She has led Dallas to a 24-16 record, helping secure a postseason berth for Dallas for the first time in three years.

The former UConn standout is currently the sixth-best scorer in the WNBA this year. Bueckers is making a strong case for the league’s Most Valuable Player title. The Wings are all in on her MVP campaign, declaring a new nickname for the 24-year-old guard.

“MVPaige” will be leading the charge for Dallas in its four games remaining in the regular season. They are currently eighth in the standings, tied with the Washington Mystics and New York Liberty at 24-16.

Bueckers has been performing well for Team USA in the ongoing FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Although known as an offensive player, Bueckers has emerged as one of the tournament’s bes t defenders.

The Americans are vying for a fifth straight World Cup gold medal. They will play in the finals on Sunday against France.
