The Indiana Fever will be continuing their season without one of the top veterans in the WNBA, following her release.

DeWanna Bonner signed with the Indiana Fever ahead of the 2025 season, joining Caitlin Clark and company in their road to a WNBA title.

During the season, Bonner requested a trade from the Fever, choosing to cut her time short on her third WNBA team in her career.

On Wednesday, Bonner was released by the Fever. She previously named the Atlanta Dream and the Phoenix Mercury as preferred destinations in a trade, but Indiana was unable to make a move involving Bonner.

After being released by the Fever, Bonner shared a message on the situation.

"I want to sincerely thank the Indiana Fever for the opportunity to be part of the Fever franchise," Bonner said. "Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out and I appreciate the organization’s willingness to grant my request to move on."

After the Indiana Fever released Bonner, they signed Aari McDonald in an corresponding move. She was recently with the team on a hardship contract, playing three games for Indiana this season.

Despite the loss of Bonner, the Fever have a strong frontcourt with Aliyah Boston, Damiris Dantas and Natasha Howard.

Bonner will now look to continue her WNBA career elsewhere after playing nine games with the Indiana Fever under head coach Stephanie White

Before her time with the Fever, Bonner played 10 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and five seasons with the Connecticut Sun.
