Phoenix Mercury star DeWanna Bonner couldn't help but get emotional as she reflected on her career following her latest WNBA milestone.

During the Mercury's July 7 game against the Chicago Sky, Bonner recorded 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting, along with seven rebounds, one steal and one block. With her scoring output, she officially reached the 8,000-point mark.

Bonner became just the third player in WNBA history to score 8,000 points, joining Diana Taurasi (10,646 points) and Tina Charles (8,398 points).

Now, nearly a week after her accomplishment, Bonner shared a post on Instagram where she looked back at her journey to becoming one of the greatest scorers in league history. She mentioned that while "8,000 points is the headline," getting to that point wasn't easy.

"The sacrifices. The adversity. The joyful reminders in between. None of this happened overnight!" Bonner wrote in her post, along with several photos and videos of herself and her family.

"Legacy is built by refusing to quit because every chapter matters. The journey has a way of preparing you to become the version of yourself that's capable of carrying everything you've been praying for."

Bonner is currently in her 17th campaign playing in the WNBA. It's worth noting that she missed the entire 2017 season to give birth to her twin daughters with former partner Candice Dupree.

At 38 years old, it's unknown how much longer Bonner will be able to play. However, she certainly has nothing left to prove. She's a six-time All-Star and a two-time WNBA champion, cementing her place as one of the best to ever play the game.

In her post, Bonner also made sure to show her appreciation for those who have supported her throughout her career.

"Your love has never gone unnoticed, and I’m grateful for each of you," Bonner added.
