Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever moved to 2-0 since Caitlin Clark's return from injury, defeating the Connecticut Sun 88-71 on Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
And things got pretty heated in the one-sided battle.
Midway through the third quarter, Clark and Sun guard Jacy Sheldon got into it after Sheldon accidentally fouled Clark in the face. Marina Mabrey came to her teammate's defense, shoving Clark down to the ground.
Even though Clark walked away from the situation after hitting the deck, the referees still handed her a technical foul, her second of the season. Mabrey and Tina Charles were also assessed technicals, while Sheldon was given a flagrant.
Sheldon later picked up her second flagrant with under a minute left in the game after she and Sophie Cunningham got into it, leading to a big scrum between both teams. Sheldon, Cunningham and Lindsay Allen were all ejected.
After the win, both Clark and White joined the media for a postgame press conference. A reporter proceeded to ask Clark, "Was there an explanation you were given for the technical that you got?"
White stepped in and interrupted her star point guard, preventing Clark from answering the question and choosing to respond herself instead.
"I'll take the (WNBA) official questions," White commented. "There wasn't an explanation for the technical she got. I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing..."
Meanwhile, as White was sharing her answer, Clark looked to the side and started shaking her head.
