The Indiana Fever continue to work on their roster this offseason. Aside from retaining Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham and Damiris Dantas, they also added Monique Billings, Ty Harris and Myisha Hines-Allen in free agency.
During the 2026 WNBA Draft on Monday, the Fever selected Raven Johnson, Justine Pissott and Jessica Timmons.
While Indiana also signed the likes of Kayana Traylor and Megan McConnell to training camp contracts, they were apparently far from done when it comes to adding to their lineup.
On Wednesday, the Fever added another guard in nine-year WNBA veteran Shatori Walker-Kimbrough.
Walker-Kimbrough, who was drafted sixth overall in 2017, played with the Atlanta Dream last season. She averaged 1.7 points in a limited role, although she appeared in 41 games for Atlanta.
The 30-year-old guard has career averages of 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists. She isn't far removed from her best season, though, as she had a big year in 2024 when she put up 7.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game with the Washington Mystics. That same campaign, Walker-Kimbrough finished third in Sixth Player of the Year voting.
When explaining what Walker-Kimbrough brings to the table for Indiana, Fever General Manager Amber Cox emphasized the "championship mindset and experience" that the veteran guard possesses.
"Shatori is a versatile guard who adds depth to our backcourt rotation," Cox stated in a press release. "She's a proven veteran in our league who brings a championship mindset and experience, both on and off the court."
It's worth noting that Walker-Kimbrough won the WNBA championship with the Mystics in 2019. She was a key backup for the team during their title run, putting up 6.7 points in 17.1 minutes per contest.
The Fever are guard-heavy, so it will be interesting to see if Walker-Kimbrough can carve out a significant role with the team. For a squad looking to contend for a championship, though, her experience and dependability could prove valuable for Indiana.
