Even without injured All-Star guard Caitlin Clark available, the Indiana Fever made their presence felt Tuesday, winning the 2025 Commissioner's Cup in a clash with Napheesa Collier's Minnesota Lynx, 74-59.
Clark sat out her third straight bout with a lingering groin injury.
Now-Fever forward Natasha Howard, who won a title with Minnesota, scored 16 points while shooting 4-of-10 from the field and 8-of-8 from the foul line, grabbed 12 boards, dished out four dimes and swiped two steals. For her efforts, Howard was crowned championship MVP.
All-Star Aliyah Boston also notched a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, while chipping in six assists, two steals and a block.
Five Fever players (every non-Lexie Hull starter plus Sophie Cunningham off the bench), led by Howard's team-high 16 points, scored in double digits.
Naturally, inquiring minds want to know what the Fever's players intend to do with their split of the $500,000 bonus the team is collectively earning as a result of the win.
For Brian Haenchen of The Indianapolis Star, one very funny answer stood out.
What will Fever players do with $500,000 Commissioner's Cup prize? 'Oh my God, you're so nosy!' https://t.co/0eaHiO9ige

Haenchen reports that point guard Sydney Colson jokingly rejected his question, clapping back with, "Oh my god, you're so nosy," and returning to her teammates — where she was showered with champagne from Clark, Cunningham and Hull.
Colson registered a team-high +19 plus-minus in her 21 minutes off the bench, though she didn't score much, notching three points on 1-of-6 shooting.
Rookie Indiana forward Makayla Thompson offered up a more serious answer, noting that she hopes to donate some of her winnings to a charitable cause. "Saving it, being smart with it," Thompson said about her intentions for the cash she doesn't donate.
Starting guard Aari McDonald revealed that she will contribute at least some of her winnings to a cause she's passionate about.
"Make a donation to an AAU team, breast cancer awareness, stuff like that," McDonald said.
