Fever star Sophie Cunningham addresses exchange with WNBA coach

Sophie Cunningham once again dominated headlines following his controversial comments about transgender athletes. She has received mixed reaction from fans, with some calling her out. However, others expressed support for the Indiana Fever star.

Cunningham drew attention ahead of tipoff for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx. She was spotted having a conversation with head coach Cheryl Reeve. The game turned out to be one of the most watched this season on ESPN, with the home team defeating Indiana 108-100.

The veteran guard was limited to just three points, one rebound and two assists. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 37 points, including six three-pointers, while Caitlin Clark registered 19 points and 10 assists. However, Olivia Miles and Courtney Williams were unstoppable, dominating Indiana with a combined 55 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.

Cunningham addressed reporters on Wednesday. She opened up about her exchange with Reeve and made it clear that it turned out well despite their varying views. While many thought their conversation would be heated, that wasn’t the case.

“I respect her for coming up in person,” Cunningham said. “A lot of people hide behind screens. She had stories about her point of view, and I had stories about my point of view. We left with love and respect.”

The Fever will return to action on Thursday. They will host the Las Vegas Aces in what promises to be an exciting matchup between two championship contenders. Cunningham and Co. aim to get back on track and start another winning streak. They have won seven of their last nine games and are 19-11 for the season.

Las Vegas, on the other hand, holds a record of 21-9 and sits second in the standings. The team comes off a blowout win over the Atlanta Dream and has its sights set on making it back-to-back victories.
