The Indiana Fever are entering a pivotal matchup on Friday night as they take on the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of their WNBA playoffs semifinal series. This will be the first home game for Indiana in this series, which is currently tied at 1-1 after the Fever stole Game 1 in Vegas.
Indiana guard Lexie Hull has been included in the injury report for Friday’s clash with a back issue, but the fact that she’s been listed as probable to play likely means that she will be suiting up against the Aces.
The 6-foot-1 guard took to social media on the eve of Friday’s matchup, sharing a handful of photos of herself in the Fever’s “Stranger Things” jersey.
“¡ʍoɹɹoɯoʇ ǝɯɐƃ ɐ ǝʌɐɥ ǝʍ,” Hull captioned her post, referencing the highly popular Netflix series.
Fever star Sophie Cunningham caught wind of her teammate’s post and just had to react. Cunningham made a request for Hull in her comment — one that the latter will not be able to fulfill.
“ BRING THE BLACK EYES BACK,” Cunningham demanded.
For context, Cunningham is referring to Hull’s previous facial injury that caused her to play a couple of games with two black eyes. Hull took a nasty elbow to the face during their game against the Seattle Storm on Aug. 26. Despite the fact that she was sporting two black eyes, that injury did not cost the former Stanford star any time on the sidelines.
However, unless Cunningham herself gives her teammate the black eyes or if Hull decides to use a lot of makeup to replicate the look, she won’t be able to follow through on Cunningham’s request.
Whatever the case may be, all this says a lot about Hull’s toughness. A couple of black eyes didn’t stop her from playing, and it appears that her back issue isn’t going to either.
