The Indiana Fever entered Friday night’s matchup against Stephanie White’s former team, the Connecticut Sun, with a 2-3 record early in the 2025 WNBA season. It was their second game without star guard Caitlin Clark, who is sidelined for at least two weeks with a left quadriceps strain.
It's a significant loss for the Fever, as the reigning Rookie of the Year is averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game through four games.
Prior to Wednesday’s game in Baltimore against the Washington Mystics, Clark roamed the court in casual clothes because she wasn't playing. On Friday, she did the same, but what happened as soon as she came out on the floor caught everyone’s attention.
Clark’s teammates, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham, greeted her with hugs as fans in the stands who arrived early for warmups stood there with their phones out, snapping photos.

It’s clear the connection between Clark, Hull and Cunningham is strong, displayed by the big, welcoming hugs for Clark and the smile on her face.
This is the first season all three have played together, after Cunningham was dealt from the Phoenix Mercury to the Fever back on Feb. 2 as part of a four-team trade. Clark and Hull spent last year as teammates and have since added Cunningham to form what fans are now calling "Tres Leches."
The nickname started in training camp and the preseason after fans saw them sharing smiles, playing games, messing with one another and leaving comments on each other’s social media posts.
