Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been fierce competitors on the court for years now. Their personal rivalry dates back to their college days, and it carried over to the WNBA when both stars were drafted in 2024.

Clark and Reese are currently on the same team, though. They are representing the United States in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany. Both have played a key role for Team USA, which went a perfect 3-0 in the group phase.

USA returned to action Thursday morning to face Hungary in the quarterfinals. Clark and Reese came off the bench again for head coach Kara Lawson, but the two made an immediate impact as soon as they checked into the game.

Reese beat the first-quarter buzzer with a lay-up. It came courtesy of an assist from Clark as the two connected on a fast-break play for Team USA.

FIBA posted the video on social media, along with a statement on the development of the Clark-Reese partnership.

“Caitlin Clark to Angel Reese is becoming a thing this World Cup ” FIBA captioned its post on X.

It did not take long before Clark found Reese again with another dime. Early in the second quarter, the Atlanta Dream star tapped the ball away from an opponent, and Clark ended up with the loose ball.

The Indiana Fever guard led another fast break for Team USA. Clark dropped a lob pass to Reese, who finished strong under the basket.

Reese’s lay-up put the U.S. ahead 40-12.

Team USA is well on its way to winning this quarterfinal matchup. As of this writing, the Americans lead 59-30 at halftime.

Clark has five points and four assists, while Reese has six points to her name.

The winner will face either Australia or Spain in the semifinals.
