  • The Indiana Fever reached the WNBA semifinals despite significant injuries, pushing the Las Vegas Aces to five games.
  • Four Fever players, now free agents, will play in AU Pro Basketball’s 5-on-5 Nashville league.
  • AU Pro Basketball runs Feb. 4–March 1, giving players a chance to boost free agency value.

With the WNBA offseason underway, Indiana Fever players have gone their separate ways after what turned out to be a memorable campaign. Despite the myriad of injuries this team had to deal with throughout the season, most notably to cornerstone superstar Caitlin Clark, the Fever still managed to go all the way to the semifinals. They pushed the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces, to five games in a hard-fought series.

Right now, though, players such as Sydney Colson, Odyssey Sims, Brianna Turner and Bree Hall have had to find new employment in between WNBA seasons. All four Fever players will be heading to Nashville in the winter for the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball league.

Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull are all playing in Unrivaled in January as they take their talents to Miami for the second season of the 3-on-3 league. Another professional league that is played during the WNBA offseason is AU Pro Basketball, which is now entering its fifth season.

Unlike Unrivaled, AU Pro Basketball plays 5-on-5. It also shuffles its teams every week, allowing players to team up with a different unit for the games. There is no one team that wins the championship. Instead, the player who accumulates the most points throughout the season is declared the champion.

Last season, it was Maddy Siegrist of the Dallas Wings who was crowned champion with 7,052 points. Sims came in second with 6,595 points in 12 games.

On Friday, the four Fever players who have signed up for AU Pro Basketball received some official news. The league took to social media to announce the schedule for the upcoming season.

Colson, Sims, Turner and Hall have now been made aware of the full schedule for the season, which officially tips off on Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. ET from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

A total of 24 games will be played this year across four weeks, with the last couple of contests taking place on March 1.

It is worth noting that all four Fever players are unrestricted free agents. Colson, Sims, Turner and Hall are all out of contract. There is no guarantee that they will return to Indiana for the new WNBA season, which starts in May.

WNBA free agency opens on Feb. 1, which is a few days before the AU Pro Basketball season begins. Colson, Sims, Turner and Hall can use the tournament as an opportunity to improve their respective stocks ahead of potential contract negotiations with WNBA teams.
