How Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso Helped the Chicago Sky Beat the WNBA's Best Team ?

The Chicago Sky came to play on Saturday as they faced off against the league-best Minnesota Lynx. The Sky wanted to send a statement by taking down the best team in the WNBA at the moment, and they did just that by defeating Napheesa Collier and Co., 87-81.

Ariel Atkins led the charge for Chicago in this one as the two-time All-Star guard erupted for 27 points on 12-of-21 shooting, to go along with three rebounds, an assist, two steals, a block and one triple in 36 minutes of action.

Atkins got a lot of help from her teammates as well, with the likes of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso stepping up in the win. After the game, head coach Tyler Marsh heaped praise on his frontcourt duo by highlighting how they helped lead Chicago to victory.

“Angel and Kamilla really set the tone early,” Marsh said, via Sky reporter Karli Bell. “We came in locked into the game plan."

Both Reese and Cardoso got off to a strong start in this one, which was necessary against a Collier-led Minnesota frontcourt.

In the end, Reese finished with a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Cardoso double-doubled as well with 17 points and 15 boards.

This was just Cardoso’s second game back following her two-week leave as she represented Brazil at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile. The Sky’s frontcourt was at full strength against Minnesota, and they showed exactly what they’re capable of.

Reese and Cardoso will need to keep their foot on the gas and hope for a repeat performance when they battle the Lynx again on Monday in a rematch at Wintrust Arena.
