Luisa Geiselsöder, a 25-year-old center for the Dallas Wings, confirmed she will represent the German national team at FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025, which takes place from June 18 to June 29 across four host countries: Czechia, Germany, Italy, and Greece. Germany will compete in Group D, with group-stage games held in Hamburg.
“Yes, I will be playing EuroBasket with the German national team,” Geiselsöder said on Friday. “I’m really looking forward to it, and I hope to help the team win a medal. It’s always an honor to represent my country on the international stage.”
The 2025 edition marks the 40th installment of Europe’s premier women’s basketball championship. Group-stage games will be played in Brno (Czechia), Hamburg (Germany), Bologna (Italy), and Piraeus (Greece), with the final phase set to take place in Athens, Greece. As co-host, Germany is automatically qualified and placed in Group D, where they will face Great Britain, Spain, and Sweden in Hamburg.
Geiselsöder has been a core part of Germany’s national program since her teenage years. She earned MVP honors at the 2016 FIBA U-16 European Championship, averaging 14.7 points and 8.9 rebounds, and later led Germany to a gold medal at the 2018 U18 European Championship. She debuted for the senior national team in 2019 and has remained a consistent contributor ever since.
Most recently, she helped Germany reach the knockout stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, averaging 7.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. In EuroBasket qualifiers earlier this year, she delivered several standout performances, including a 22-point, seven-rebound outing against Greece in February 2025.
Before arriving in Dallas, Geiselsöder played for Basket Landes in France’s Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB). In 16 league games during the 2024–25 season, she averaged 11.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks, shooting 47.5% from the field and 35.7% from three. In EuroLeague Women play, she added 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Her performance in the LFB Finals included an 18-point effort in the opener, helping Basket Landes win the championship.
Originally selected by the Wings with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Geiselsöder remained overseas to continue her development before officially joining Dallas in May 2025 after completing her season in France and receiving FIBA clearance.
As she balances her WNBA debut with midseason international duties, Geiselsöder is expected to be a vital piece for both the Wings and the German national team this summer. Dallas has agreed to release her for EuroBasket 2025, where her leadership, experience, and inside-out skill set will be key to Germany’s pursuit of a medal.
