WNBA veteran Brittney Griner is preparing for her first WNBA season with the Drea, and one of the things she needs ASAP is someone who would help her get her hair done.

In a social media story, former Phoenix Mercury veteran Brittney Griner went to ask her followers for recommendations for a hair stylist in the Atlanta area, as she recently moved to the city following her signing with the Atlanta Dream in free agency.

“Looking for a loc shop to get my hair done in the ATL!” Griner wrote in her Instagram story. “If y’all know one, hit my inbox!”

Brittney Griner, a ten-time WNBA All-Star and one of the league’s most dominant centers, has officially signed with the Atlanta Dream in free agency after spending her entire 11-season career with the Phoenix Mercury.

Griner’s move marks a significant shift for both her career and the Dream, as she brings championship experience and elite talent to a team looking to make a deep playoff run. The signing is considered one of the biggest free-agent acquisitions in Dream history.

Griner’s departure from Phoenix comes as the Mercury undergo a transition, with longtime star Diana Taurasi contemplating retirement and the team making key roster changes. During her tenure with the Mercury, Griner led the franchise to a WNBA championship in 2014 and helped them reach the Finals again in 2021.

She left Phoenix as the team’s all-time leader in rebounds and blocks, cementing her legacy as one of the greatest players in franchise history.

Brittney Griner on Signing With Dream: “Felt Like Home”

In a statement, Britney Griner talked about her excitement about starting a new chapter of her career in Atlanta and around new teammates with the dream roster.

“Atlanta felt like home the moment I started thinking about this next chapter,” said Griner. “What led me here was the team, the players, and most importantly, my family. I’m excited to be part of this city, to connect with the community, and help elevate this team into championship contention.”

“Brittney is the perfect fit for this team, this organization and this city,” said General Manager Dan Padover. “She brings Hall of Fame talent, championship presence and leadership to our organization. This is a monumental moment for our franchise.”

“Brittney is a Hall of Fame player who brings unmatched skill, productivity, and an incredible level of unselfishness to the court,” said Head Coach Karl Smesko. “Her leadership and selflessness will not only elevate our team but also enhance the chemistry and culture that we are cultivating.”

During the 2024 season, and her final season with the Phoenix Mercury, Britney Griner averaged 17.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. She maintained an impressive 57.9% field goal percentage.
