Indiana Fever Announce Big News After Third Straight Win

The Indiana Fever came into Tuesday’s matchup after having already clinched a spot in the WNBA playoffs. However, there was still a lot at stake as Indiana fought for positioning in a battle against the league-best Minnesota Lynx.

The Fever took full advantage of the Lynx opting to rest MVP frontrunner Napheesa Collier. Indiana scored a huge win, 83-72, as they improved to 24-20 on the season.

It was Kelsey Mitchell who led the way for the Fever with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, with four triples and three assists in 26 minutes of action.

The team took to social media shortly after the final buzzer to announce some big news now that their regular season has come to an end. Their last game of the season saw them secure their 24th win of the year, which is a new mark for the organization.

“most regular season wins in franchise history ” the Fever posted on X.

The Fever have been in the WNBA since 2000. On Tuesday, they achieved a historic milestone by setting a new season-high in victories, surpassing their 23-win campaign last year. The fact that they achieved this feat despite being decimated by injuries — which includes cornerstone superstar Caitlin Clark being limited to 13 games this season — makes this accomplishment even more impressive.

The Fever will want to keep the celebrations in check, though. For starters, they will need to monitor the Golden State Valkyries’ last two games. The results of those contests will determine which of these two sides will finish as the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds in the playoffs.

Regardless of where they finish, however, the Fever are set to face either the Las Vegas Aces or the Atlanta Dream in the first round of the playoffs, with those two teams fighting for the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds.

The new regular-season win record is all well and good, but the Fever will now want to carry over this momentum heading into what they’re hoping will be a deep playoff run.
