For the third time this WNBA season, Caitlin Clark is dealing with a concerning injury.
Clark suffered a groin injury during the final minute of Tuesday night's game between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun. The former No. 1 pick was clutching the inside of her right thigh before walking over to the bench. She then placed a towel over head and let out some frustration.
Fever head coach Stephanie White didn't sound that worried about Clark's injury during her postgame press conference. To be fair, her squad has already been without the All-Star point guard for nine regular-season games.
"I think we just take it one step at a time," White said, via ESPN. "We'll get some food and get on the plane and start talking about New York. She's being evaluated; we'll see where we are with that. And certainly, we'll have another evaluation, probably, and conversation in the morning, see where we are. But this group has played without her. At least we've got experience in that."
Before the Fever enjoy the All-Star weekend, they'll have to take on the New York Liberty in Brooklyn.
Moments ago, the Fever announced that Clark is questionable with a right groin injury. If we had to guess, the medical staff will play things safe and rule her out as tipoff approaches.
When healthy, Clark has been quite productive for the Fever. She's currently averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds this season.
The timing of Clark's latest injury is quite brutal. As of now, she's supposed to compete in the 3-point contest and WNBA All-Star Game this weekend.
If Clark's injury doesn't improve over the next 48 hours, she may have to watch this year's All-Star festivities from the sideline.
