The WNBA regular season officially came to a close on Thursday night as all 13 teams completed their respective 44-game schedules.
The Indiana Fever played their final game on Tuesday, taking down the league-best Minnesota Lynx, 83-72. It wasn’t until Thursday night, however, that their final seeding was determined.
After Thursday’s round of games, the Fever have locked in the No. 6 seed entering the WNBA playoffs. They will be facing the Atlanta Dream in the first round.
The Fever have now announced their first-round schedule ahead of what they are hoping will be a deep run in the postseason.
“Atlanta will host Game 1 on Sunday, Sept. 14. The Fever will then host Game 2 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on either Tuesday, Sept. 16 or Wednesday, Sept. 17. If necessary, Game 3 would be in Atlanta on either Thursday, Sept. 18 or Friday, Sept. 19. The WNBA will announce the full schedule for the first round of the playoffs soon,” a statement on the Fever’s official website read.

In a succeeding announcement, the WNBA confirmed the Fever’s full schedule for the first round:
The WNBA has shifted to a 1-1-1 schedule for the playoffs this season. This guarantees that the road team will host one game in the series. In the case of the Dream-Fever matchup, Game 2 will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
This is a significant difference from last season’s 2-1 schedule format. Last year, the Fever lost Games 1 and 2 against the Connecticut Sun and were no longer able to host Game 3 at home. This year, the Indiana faithful will get to watch their team in action at home for Game 2 on Tuesday.
Fever fans are hoping, however, that this year’s playoff run is not limited to just one home game. The second round shifts to a best-of-five format, meaning Indiana will potentially host a maximum of two more games (Games 3 and 4).
Should they proceed to the next round, the Fever will face either the No. 2 Las Vegas Aces or the No. 7 Seattle Storm.
