Aliyah Boston will play a key role in the Indiana Fever’s championship aspirations this season. The 24-year-old has been a foundational piece of the Fever since she was drafted first overall out of South Carolina in 2023. Boston signed a four-year, $6.3 million extension, the richest total salary in WNBA history, becoming the first player ever to utilize the league's new EPIC provision after earning All-WNBA Second Team honors in 2025.

But Fever fans continue to anticipate her return to action after she suffered a lower right leg injury at the end of the Unrivaled league’s regular season in late February. The injury forced her to miss the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament and both of Indiana's first two preseason outings against the New York Liberty and Dallas Wings.

On Friday, however, the team shared good news: Boston is not listed on the injury report and will be available to play the final preseason game against the Nigerian National Team on Saturday.

It is a welcome development for a franchise that needs its cornerstone healthy as Indiana prepares to open its regular season May 9 at home against Dallas.

Boston’s first three years in Indianapolis already reads like a hall-of-fame checklist: 2023 Rookie of the Year, three All-Star selections and a franchise-record 17 double-doubles last season. She averaged 15 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in 2025 on 53.8% shooting, finishing sixth in MVP voting while carrying the Fever through a season ravaged by injuries.

As the Fever look to improve on last season’s impressive run to the WNBA playoff semifinals, Boston will be expected to lead the charge again alongside two-time All-Star Caitlin Clark.
