Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever are set to open the 2026 WNBA preseason on Saturday, hitting the road to face Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty at Barclays Center (Brooklyn, New York). This will be the first of just two preseason games for the Fever, who will open the regular season on May 9 against Azzi Fudd and the Dallas Wings.

Boston had arguably the best season of her WNBA career during her third year with Indiana in 2025. The former South Carolina Gamecocks forward averaged a career-high 15.0 points on 53.8% shooting, along with 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Boston, along with Kelsey Mitchell, helped the Fever advance to Game 5 of the semifinals despite missing Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, before falling to the Las Vegas Aces.

The Fever began training camp on Sunday, just under a week before their preseason opener, and Boston has not been a full participant in practices. However, according to IndyStar Sports' Chloe Peterson, she has taken part in portions of practice open to the media over the past week.

On Friday, Indiana announced that Boston, who is dealing with a lower leg injury, will not play against New York, listing the All-Star forward as out. Boston is not the only player the Fever will be missing on Saturday, as Lexie Hull (hamstring), Ty Harris (knee) and Damiris Dantas (NWT) have also been ruled out. The decision is precautionary, and, per Peterson, they would be available if it were a regular-season game.

"Status Report for tomorrow's game at New York: Aliyah Boston - Out (lower leg), Damiris Dantas – NWT, Ty Harris - Out (knee), Lexie Hull – Out (hamstring)," the Fever wrote on X.

The Fever will take on the Liberty on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET on ION.
