While much of the focus on the Indiana Fever is on Caitlin Clark and her status after her latest injury, Kelsey Mitchell provided fans a reason to celebrate and be optimistic about the team's future.
On Wednesday, against the New York Liberty, Mitchell made history with her hot start for the Fever. While Indiana struggled and trailed 53-38 in the first half, the All-Star guard was sensational with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
Mitchell also made two 3-pointers on four attempts, which allowed her to claim the record for the most triples in franchise history.
The 29-year-old entered the game with 605 career 3-pointers with the Fever, just one behind Tamika Catchings' tally of 606.
"FRANCHISE RECORD," the Fever wrote to celebrate Mitchell's achievement. "Kelsey Mitchell has passed Tamika Catchings for the most three-pointers made in franchise history with 607 and counting."

Fans were also quick to celebrate the moment, taking to the comments section of the Fever's post to congratulate the veteran scorer and heap praise on her.
"Kelsey Mitchell is a Fever legend. She stayed with the team through a 5-31 record and is now reaping the rewards," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "Congrats Kelsey. Keep it coming."
"Queen Goat," a fan declared.
"Congrats kels. You were one of our famous Splash Sisters last year until White changed everything," a supporter remarked.
A follower added, "Congrats Kelsey! Keep firing!"
"Let’s go Kelsey Mitchell. Money as always and now the franchise three leader," a social media user shared.
Mitchell also climbed the WNBA's all-time 3-pointers made, claiming the 11th spot from Catchings. She now has a chance to crack the top 10, with Jewell Loyd at No. 10 with 610 triples.
