Sophie Cunningham is coming off a memorable year with the Indiana Fever. After joining the team in the offseason via a multi-team trade from the Phoenix Mercury, the 6-foot-1 guard made an immediate impact on the Fever both on and off the court.

Indiana brought her on to play the role of an enforcer, but she was also a significant contributor all around, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 10 steals and 1.7 triples in 25.2 minutes per game. Cunningham was one of the most vocal leaders on the squad as well, which is a role she continued to play despite her season-ending knee injury in August.

Cunningham was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri. She went to the University of Missouri for college, where she set the all-time record for the most career points scored (2,187) in the Missouri Tigers program history. In September, she was inducted into the Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame.

Cunningham recently made a big personal decision. The 29-year-old announced that she’s moving into a new home in Florida. She posted a photo from the beach, adding the caption “future home.”

It has been a busy weekend for the Fever star, who revealed via her Instagram stories that she arrived in New York City on Sunday following her house-hunting in Florida.

"So I pulled an all-nighter last night," she said. "Been looking at houses.

“Flew up to New York because I'm going to be on 'Good Morning America' tomorrow at 8:30 [a .m.] Eastern Time. It's only going to be like three or four minutes, so if you blink, you're going to miss me. But tune in if you want."

Cunningham decided to do a food review inside her hotel room after buying some dumpling soup, which, according to her, is something she always gets when she’s in the city. The Fever guard also bought a cup of the pineapple fruit tea “everyone’s talking about.”

During her food review, Cunningham expressed her love for NYC.

"I know my family kind of hates New York," she said. "They like to visit, but they're not a big fan of it. But I love it. ... I have so many new places on my list that I want to go and have brunch and just hang out. ... I like this city, but like, in doses.”

Cunningham’s one-year deal with the Fever is set to expire. She will be an unrestricted free agent once the window officially opens on Feb. 1. This means that Indiana will need to negotiate a new deal if they want to retain her services for next season and beyond.
