Golden State Valkyries guard Kate Martin and her girlfriend Claire Gransee are spending the WNBA offseason together. The couple recently went on a romantic outdoor vacation and shared photos of their trip on social media.
Gransee took to her Instagram account, sharing photos of their lovely escapade in her IG stories. The two spent their night at a cabin in the woods, as shown in one of the stories.
Kate Martin and Claire Gransee met in college at the University of Iowa. Martin was selected by the Las Vegas Aces in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft in April. Two months later, she and Gransee went public about their relationship.
Martin played limited minutes with the Aces in her debut season. In 34 games, she played an average of 11.5 minutes, averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds. After the expansion draft, however, she is now a member of the Valkyries, who will make their WNBA debut next season.
Meanwhile, Martin’s girlfriend Gransee currently works as a Human Resources Associate at Publicis Sapient, a digital consultancy firm. According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated from Iowa with a degree in Communications Studies.
While spending an enjoyable time with her partner during the offseason, Kate Martin is also anticipating the continuation of her professional basketball journey with her new team, the Golden State Valkyries. She was among the 11 players selected to comprise the expansion team’s roster earlier this month.
In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, Martin expressed her excitement about playing for her new team, vowing to do her best.
“It’s a pretty cool opportunity. I feel really grateful to be a part of it,” Martin said. “It’s a part of history, a new WNBA team. They haven’t had an expansion draft in a really long time. It’s something super cool to be a part of, and I feel really grateful that they chose me. It’s just going to be a lot of fun.
The newly drafted Valkyries guard added, “Obviously they’re going to be aggressive, and we’re going to have more people added. That makes it really fun, seeing the roster come together and what it’s going to be, how training camp is going to look.”
