Caitlin Clark had another golden opportunity this season as she was named the captain of her team for the All-Star Game on July 19. As the Indiana Fever superstar hunts for her lineup, two players have already caught her attention: teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
Before the highly anticipated All-Star Draft on Tuesday, Clark made it clear that she’ll fill the trio with Boston and Mitchell in front of fans.
“I think there’s a high chance that Kels and AB are on my team. I’ll do everything I can. I might trade the rest of my team for those two,” Clark said. “I’m excited. I think it will be fun and that’s what the All-Star Game is really about. Just getting the fans something to cheer about.”
The WNBA All-Star draft with Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier is tonight — but will air tomorrow.

This wasn’t the first time Caitlin Clark had hoped to add her teammates to her team. After getting a record-high fan votes a week ago, the former Iowa standout wasted no words and went straight to the point.
“I mean, obviously I am going to try and get my teammates on my team. Why wouldn’t I? That’s obviously the goal,” Clark said. “Obviously my first goal will certainly be to have my teammates on my team.”
However, Caitlin Clark couldn’t guarantee that Boston and Mitchell were on her team. Her opposing captain, Napheesa Collier, might change the atmosphere and include one or even both of the Fever squad on her team. Indiana fans could hope that Collier doesn’t go on with this plan.
While Caitlin Clark hadn’t faced Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings last June 27, she’ll get a chance to do so next Sunday. Speaking on that topic, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is seemingly into a possible tandem between Clark, still recovering from her groin injury, and Aari McDonald, the newly signed guard, in the following matches.
“I’m used to playing multiple point guards on the floor at the same time,” White said. “It’ll be organic. The only time that we’ll probably predetermine anything is dead ball [situations]…maybe after free throws, if you wanna get a certain look.”
“I think it would be really good for us to be able to get CC off the ball a little bit more in certain situations,” White said. “But, more than anything, we wanna be able to play where our high guards and our low guard gets our outlet. Having Aari on the floor gives us another opportunity to do that.”
