According to ESPN, the guard had the option to pursue a $1.4 million supermax contract but instead chose a lower figure to give the franchise more flexibility in building a competitive squad.

The decision comes after a challenging campaign for the Sparks, who finished sixth in the Western Conference and missed out on the playoffs.

Despite the team’s struggles, Plum delivered strong individual numbers as shown by the SofaScore database, leading the Sparks with 19.5 points and 5.7 assists per game last season.
