Las Vegas Aces President, Nikki Fargas and coach Becky Hammon Introduced two new additions to the team, Jewell Loyd and Liz Kitley on Tuesday.

Fargas started off talking about the excitement surrounding the signing of Kitley.

“We can’t say how proud we are to have Liz be an instrumental part, a big piece if you will, standing 6-foot-6, joining obviously A’ja Wilson and Kiah Stokes, this young lady is going to be a sight to watch on the floor,” Fargas said.

When speaking about Loyd, Fargas gave glowing adulation about Jewell Loyd saying,

“This is a young lady who is a proven superstar in the league,” Fargas said. “With her ability to win championships at every level, and also what she brings to our team is invaluable, her ability to lead, her ability to be a great teammate, those are the things that really attracted us to her.”

When asked about the acquisition of talent, Hammon simply put it, “We’re about winning championships.”

“I don’t think there’s any question in anybody’s mind and that’s always our goal and our purpose,” she continued.

Kitley spent last season injured, and it’s something Hammon commended her.

“People forget how good you were and are and are working to be. As a person that’s torn two ACLs, it is a process,” Hammon said. “It’s a journey and I just want to commend you on your diligence showing up every day and doing the work.”

Kitely opened up about the process in her journey to recovering after a torn ACL.

“I think when I got injured last year, a lot of people kind of looked at me and felt sorry for me but from day one, I kind of saw the opportunity that I had in front of me and for the lovely organization to bring me in and let me be involved behind the scenes was such a cool opportunity because not any other rookies really get that,” Kitely said. “Because I’ve been so supported here from day one, especially by the medical staff, we’ve spent a lot of time together, but it all has been for something great. I’m happy to be a part of it all.”

The Las Vegas Aces take on the New York Liberty on May 17 to open the season.
