Lexie Hull Had Two Words for Sophie Cunningham After Career Move

Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham both played key roles for the Indiana Fever last season. Together, these two guards helped lead Indiana to a very successful campaign. This included a Commissioner’s Cup championship, the team’s best regular-season finish (24-20) since 2015 and a trip to the WNBA playoffs semifinals.

Hull was one of the few remaining stars on the roster by the end of what turned out to be an injury-cursed season. She played all 44 games in the regular season, averaging 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 triples.

Cunningham, on the other hand, also had a remarkable first year with the team following her offseason trade. However, her campaign was cut short after 30 games due to a season-ending knee injury.

Cunningham announced some big career news on Wednesday, away from the WNBA. She is now officially a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

Cunningham shared multiple photos and videos from her SI shoot on Instagram, which drew a lot of attention online.

Hull was among the first of Cunningham’s Fever teammates who shared their reaction to the big move.

“Oh hi!!!!!” Hull wrote in the comments section of the post.

Cunningham and Hull built quite a friendship during their time together in Indiana. In fact, Cunningham considers Hull to be her “bestie” on the squad. Hull has now come out to support her friend in her latest venture.

It is interesting to note that both Cunningham and Hull are free agents. The Fever have already extended Hull’s restricted qualifying offer, putting them in a good position to sign her to a new contract. However, there have been no reports of an offer for Cunningham, who is an unrestricted free agent.

Negotiations between teams and free agents officially opened on Wednesday. Players will be allowed to sign new contracts by Saturday.
