Lexie Hull Makes Painful Admission About Indiana Fever's Future
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

The Indiana Fever are heading into an uncertain offseason following their early exit in the 2026 WNBA playoffs. After finishing sixth in the regular season with a 28-16 record, Lexie and company weren’t able to go past the first round, losing to the Las Vegas Aces in three games.

Hull expressed disappointment with the Fever’s failure, especially since there were high expectations for the team after reaching the semifinals in 2025.

Beyond the pain of losing and watching other teams still compete for the title, though, Hull also noted that the “hardest pill to swallow” is the fact that the Fever won’t have the same team next season.

“I think that’s the hardest pill to swallow, is we’re not going to get this group again, just like we didn’t get last year’s group again,” Hull stated in her exit interview with the Fever.

“So, it sucks, but we have a great group. We loved each other. We enjoyed playing together, and it sucks it ended earlier than we wanted.”

Only Hull, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Monique Billings have guaranteed contracts for next season.

Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, Tyasha Harris and Myisha Hines-Allen are all unrestricted free agents this offseason, and it’s unknown if Indiana will be able to bring them all back.

Considering the fact that the Fever also need reinforcements on defense, as well as in the frontcourt, it’s not hard to imagine the team trading away players or releasing them to make way for those additions.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Indiana navigates the offseason and free agency. As Hull shared, though, fans cannot expect the front office to bring back everyone from the 2026 roster.
